Things to do in Moshi

There is various things to explore in Moshi town and outside the town. For example;

• Local Market visits

Here’s the place where they sell fruits, foods, spices etc.

We recommend you to test “Avocado” before you leave Tanzania.

• Souvenir Shops (shopping)

The place you can find (buying) gifts to bring family or friends without forget to gift yourself.

There’s also possible to get an African Fabric (Kitenge, Kanga) that you can make a shirt, bags and possible to bring to your home for the table mate or as a decoration to your house.

• Sundown Watching

Moshi and Tanzania in general the sun goes down around 6pm.

Moshi taxi will pick up you and drive you the town where you can watch the sunset on the roof of the building for the good spot for the sunset and the view of the town and  Mount Kilimanjaro (both depends on the weather).

–  Local / International restaurants.

There is many restaurants in Moshi where you can get African foods, International foods, Indian foods as well as fresh mixture or plain juice.

• Coffee Shop (drinking)

Moshi is known as the home of local organic coffee which is grown on the slopes of mount Kilimanjaro. The sort of coffee grown here is Arabica due to the high elevation. You will visit a place known as KNCU (Kilimanjaro Native Co-operative Union) in the town center. There you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee together with a freshly baked piece of cake.

–  Money

Major foreign currencies – particularly USD ­and traveler’s checks are accepted and are convertible at banks and bureau de changes in Moshi. In general, credit cards are of little use in Moshi and in Tanzania as a whole. Credit cards are not widely accepted and when they are accepted, they carry poor exchange rates and are subject to substantial fees. Some banks in Moshi offer ATM facilities against international credit cards, but again the rates are typically poor and the amount that can be withdrawn is limited. ATMs are not available at all elsewhere. Do not change money in the street.
